Caledonian Braves can confirm that Ricky Waddell has stepped down from his position as First Team Manager after 12 years in charge of the club. Ricky offered his resignation and, after careful consideration, the club has accepted it.
We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Ricky for his hard work, his commitment to the club and the project, and for the friendship he has shown throughout his time with us. If the club belongs to anyone beyond founder Chris Ewing and the early pioneers of Edusport Academy, it is surely Ricky Waddell. He has been with us through every stage of the journey, including the transition from Edusport Academy to Caledonian Braves, and has played a central role in shaping who we are today.
Over the last decade, Ricky has worked tirelessly to build and develop a young, exciting squad capable of competing in the Lowland League, helping countless young players progress and grow within our environment. That commitment to player development and performance has underpinned everything we have tried to do as a club.
`Among many highlights, Ricky led the club to the South of Scotland League title in 2016–17 and guided us to last season’s historic FENIX Trophy triumph in Europe, achievements that will live long in the memory of everyone connected with the Braves. We have been through a great deal together on and off the pitch, and those shared experiences will always be part of our story.

Club founder and owner Chris Ewing said:
“Over the years working together, Ricky has become much more than a colleague – he has become a friend. This has not been an easy decision for either of us. After 13 years in charge, we both recognise that there is always the risk of complacency creeping in, and we feel this may be the right moment for some fresh ideas and new energy. What is important to stress is that this change does not alter the ambitions of the club. We remain as focused as ever – if anything, even more determined – to achieve our goals and to keep improving all areas of Caledonian Braves.”

We wish Ricky all the very best in whatever comes next in his career and his life, and he will always be welcome at Alliance Park as a friend and as part of the Braves family.
The club has now begun its succession process and the search for a new First Team Manager is under way. We have identified an initial shortlist and are open to genuine expressions of interest from candidates who know the Scottish game, hold the appropriate coaching qualifications, and share our ambition for Caledonian Braves.
