Broomhill Pick-up All Three Points in Cagey Affair

After a tough loss midweek, Ricky Waddell and his side looked to bounce back as they travelled to Dumbarton as they took on Broomhill.

The opening 20 minutes proved to be a tentative affair; not much separated the two sides. With 12 minutes to go until the half, the Braves came close to breaking the deadlock through Aiden Clocherty.
Clocherty, showing excellent tenacity, was denied at close range by the onrushing Broomhill keeper,
Luke Scullion.

It wasn’t long until the first goal was scored. A corner on the 36 th minute would be the Braves
undoing. A deep corner, from Paul Kennedy to the back post, was met by an excellent leap from Ross
Smith. 1-0 to Broomhill.

With two minutes until half time, the game went from bad to worse for the Braves. Another Smith
corner, met this time by Daniel Higgins, saw the visitors go down 2-0.

At half time, Ricky Waddell made two changes in an attempt to change the tide of the match. Ross McNeil and Luke Biggart entered the fray, replacing Louis Thompson and Kristain Gkegkas.

The Braves, with their backs against the wall, fought to overturn the two-goal deficit.

At the 55-minute mark, the Braves had a chance to get one back. Greig Stewart’s effort went wide at
the back post.

With less than 10 minutes on the clock, the gaffer tried rolling the dice one final time by bringing on
new signing Josh Gemmell - returning from a recent injury to make his Braves debut.

The Braves, missing that final touch, were unable to get back into the game and Broomhill ran out as
winners.

We'll look to bounce back next weekend, when we return to Alliance Park to face Linlithgow Rose.
