Caledonian Braves vs Broomhill

The Braves battled their way to a narrow 1-0 victory over Broomhill, to maintain their undefeated start to the Lowland League. With the rain pouring down all evening, it took until the final five minutes for the deadlock to be broken, when Ross McNeil bagged a dramatic winner.

After a break for the cup on the weekend, Ricky Waddell reverted to a more familiar line-up, with Ryan Murray being our sole change from our previous league game two weeks ago.

Prior to kick-off, the rain lashed down at Alliance Park, ensuring a slippery surface which impacted the play on the evening.

In the first half, our visitors proved to be the bigger threat, and Bernie White made a plethora of stops to keep our clean sheet in the tact. This was topped off by a phenomenal triple save with just five minutes on the clock, to somehow stop our opposition from scoring.

As the second half rolled on, our number 1 continued to be unbeatable, whilst his teammates patiently looked for a killer chance. Kian Speirs came close with a strike that smashed the bar, but the winner would follow with 85 munutes on the clock.

Robbie Stewart picked up the ball in a deep area on the left, before pinging a pinpoint cross into the box. Ross McNeil made the run, and nodded the ball home with a clever finish to secure all three points.

On a wet and rainy evening, the Braves battled away despite not being at their absolute best, to make it four straight wins in all compeitions!
