Caledonian Braves vs Celtic B

W 5 - 1

The Caledonian Braves ended Celtic B's undefeated start to the season in comprehensive fashion this weekend, with a 5-1 vicotry at Alliance Park.

After a midweek draw against The University of Stirling, Ricky Waddell recalled Greig Stewart and Ryan Murray to his starting line-up.

Throughout the first half, Celtic B domianted the majority of the possession, without troubling the goal of the Braves. Whilst we failed to make many clear opportunities, Ross McNeil looked a constant threat, winning free-kicks and fouls for his side in attack. In the opening 40 minutes, Bernie White made the biggest save, moving his feet quickly across his line to save from a corner down low.

With the sun continuing to shine on this Autumn afternoon, Cammy Breadner stood up to provide the brightest moment of the half on the cusp of half time. The ever dangerous winger cut in with the ball from the right, before unleashing a left footed strike from the best part of 25 yards. A true bullet, Rice had no chance in the Celtic goal as the balled rattled the back of the net.

Ross McNeil would come close to getting a second as the shell shocked Celtic team gave the ball away in the wake of the opener. His left footed effort was straight at Rice however, to end the first half 1-0.

The Braves would come flying out the blocks once again in the second half, and only took seven minutes to bag their second. After sustaining some pressure up high, Breadner swung a corner into the middle, which was flicked home at the near post by the on-rushing Robbie Stewart. A first Braves goal for the 18-year-old!

At this stage, the Braves were cutting through their young opposition with their clinical, quick interplay. On the hour mark, the ever dangerous Ross McNeil pressured Lenny Agbaire on a long ball, and won the break to pick up a big opportunity. Despite injuring his hamstring the process, Ross continued with the ball before unleashing a left footed strike across the keeper, into the top corner. Goal 100 in a Braves shirt for our captain - a huge moment in our history, and goal 101 followed quickly.

Ten minutes later, Ross McNeil once again attacked the heart of the opposition defence, and was clipped over by a lazy leg in the box. Our number 9 stood up, and smashed home into the bottom corner to make it four.

The next goal would come for our opposition, as they looked to regain some pride. Despite being carved open at the back, Celtic continued to play their game and had already struck the near post of Bernie White in their search for a goal. In this isntance, a cross was swung in from the left, and impressively met by Lewis Dobbie in the middle, who looped a header over the reach of Bernie.

But the Braves would get the final laugh, with virtually the last kick of the game. Second half substitute Lennon Walker picked up the ball and drove into the box, before being swept out by on-rushing 'keeper Rice. Lenny stood up himself, and rolled his penalty down the middle to make it 5-1.

Another superb shift from the lads, who ensured that they'd remain the only undefeated side in the league. Up next, a trip to face Musselburgh in the Scottish Cup.
