Maybole vs Caledonian Braves

The Caledonian Braves secured their place in the second round of the South Challenge Cup with a 0-1 win away to Maybole Juniors.

The Braves created the majority of the chances in the first half, but were unable to break the deadlock in an entertaining opening 45 minutes. Out hosts would also come close on a couple of occasions, with debutant Kyle King making a strong save from a 45 yard free kick.

Cammy Breadner came close to scoring moments into the second half, but was denied by a great save. However, he wouldn’t have to wait long to break the deadlock when he was slit in by a Kian Speirs header and beat the goalkeeper with a low finish.

With 35 minutes left the Braves comfortably defended their lead. Despite playing two divisions below us Maybole kept the game competitive, but were unable to test the goal of Kyle King in their search for an equaliser

The Braves will go onto face Rossvale in the second round next month.
