Caledonian Braves vs Albion Rovers

D 1 - 1

Caledonian Braves welcomed Albion Rovers to Alliance Park for the second pre-season friendly of the season. A tight match saw Rovers take the lead in the first half, before a Jack McDowall header shortly after the interval secured Braves a share of the spoils.

Both sides had enjoyed victories in their opening pre-season friendlies. Braves were 4-0 winners over Gartcairn, whereas Rovers won 4-3 in an entertaining match against another Lowland League side in the form of East Kilbride FC.

Rovers enjoyed the better of the early exchanges, although the home side did have the first sight of goal. Neil McLaughlin's well weighted pass playing in Jamie Watson, who saw his effort saved by the goalkeeper's legs.

With 36 minutes on the clock, the away side took the lead. A measured cross from Matthew Aitken was met by a looping Jack Brown header.

The second half was just a couple of minutes old when Braves managed to get back on level terms. A David Sinclair corner was swung into the 6-yard box and McDowall showed great bravery to meet the ball first before being clattered.

Both sides had a couple of half chances but the match fizzled out, with neither side able to get their nose in front.

Next up for Braves is another home match, with Kirkintilloch Rob Roy the opponents on Saturday.
