Caledonian Braves have appointed owner Marc Cavender as the club's first Owner Programme Coordinator. He'll be owners' main point of contact with the club and will lead a new programme to help owners get involved.
The appointment was approved by the club's Leadership Council on 29 September. Marc starts in October.
Marc is himself an owner and has spent time in Scotland. He understands what the club means to its owners, which makes him well placed to represent their interests and make sure their voices are heard. Marc said:
"I'm genuinely excited to get started as OPC with the Caledonian Braves! This club means so much to me and I'm proud to have the opportunity to help owners stay connected, get involved and make sure their questions & ideas go somewhere useful. There's a lot coming together, and I'm looking forward to helping build something people actually want to engage with."
What the role involves
As Owner Programme Coordinator, Marc will:
- Be owners' main point of contact, with a reply to every question within five working days
- Run five owner working groups: Community & Communications, Revenue & Partnerships, Technology & Platform, Ambassadors, and Academy
- Organise the first election for the Owners Liaison Council, a body of owners elected by owners to make sure every owner's voice is heard by the club
- Keep owners up to date through a progress tracker, updated every two weeks, and a regular live online session, the Owners' Room
Marc will report to Chris Ewing, Founder, CEO and Chairman. Once the Owners Liaison Council is elected, Marc will agree the programme's priorities with its Chair. Chris Ewing said:
"Our owners are what make this club different, and many of you have told us you want to do more. Marc cares deeply about the Braves and understands owners, because he is one. He'll make sure owners are heard, and that what they say leads somewhere. I'm delighted he's taken this on."
What happens next
- 6 October: all owners receive a letter from Chris, and applications open for the working groups and the Ambassador programme.
- 14 October (TBC): the first Owners' Room, a live online session at 7pm UK / 2pm US Eastern, where owners can meet Marc and ask questions.
- 16 October: applications close.
