Historic Season Culminates in Unforgettable Owners' Weekend Celebration
The Caledonian Braves' remarkable third-place finish in the Lowland League was celebrated spectacularly during an emotional and memorable owners' weekend that brought together more than 60 co-owners from across the globe, creating what many described as a "homecoming" rather than just an event.
The inaugural Global Owners Meet-Up (April 18-19) transformed Glasgow into a hub of passionate football community. The weekend kicked off with an engaging evening at The Social Hub in Glasgow's Merchant City, where owners, management, and players came together for an inspiring Q&A session with Manager Ricky Waddell and CEO Chris Ewing. The presentation offered exciting glimpses into future developments and sparked conversations that continued long into the night.
The weekend's centerpiece was our final league matchh at Alliance Park, where many owners experienced their first live Braves match after months or even years of watching through screens. As co-owner Marc Cavender reflected, "Stepping foot onto the pitch at Alliance Park - after a season of watching it through a screen - was something I'll never forget... it felt like I was finally home."
The season's achievements were celebrated at our End of Season Awards ceremony at the iconic Drygate venue, where players and owners mingled as one extended family. The evening's winners included:
• Player of the Year: Ross McNeil (Owners' Choice)
• Top Goalscorer: Ross McNeil
• Goal of the Season: Cammy Breadner (Owners' Choice)
• Young Player of the Year: Ryan Murray (Owners' Choice)
• Players' Player of the Year: Greig Stewart
Hunter Ekvall who traveled too from the United States, captured the spirit perfectly: "The hospitality that Chris and his staff showed us made us realize how much they appreciated us being there. Every player was so nice and gracious... I can honestly say it was one of the best weekends of my life."
The weekend exemplified how the Caledonian Braves has grown beyond being just a football club to become a global community. What started as individual investments has blossomed into lasting friendships and connections spanning continents. As one owner noted, they knew more people they could call for dinner in Glasgow than in their hometown - a testament to the unique bonds formed through our shared passion for the Braves.
This season has truly embodied our motto "Because together we got power," with our global ownership community not just watching from afar but actively participating in our journey. The third-place finish, while impressive, tells only part of the story - the real triumph lies in the community we've built together.
To capture the spirit of this unforgettable weekend and the deeper meaning behind being part of the Braves family, we sat down with two passionate co-owners who made the journey to Glasgow: Marc Cavender and Hunter Ekvall.
In their own words, they share what this club, this season, and this community truly mean to them.
