Travancore Royals FC partnership opportunity

19th October 2021

Football has the power to unite and bring people together, from all walks of life. Our club now has over 2,800 members from over 35 countries around the world. We are committed to expanding our global community and uniting even more people through the medium of football.

Therefore, we are proposing an official partnership with an Indian based club, Travancore Royals FC. Travancore Royals are the first fan-owned club from India, based in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Travancore Royals is an extremely ambitious project designed and developed by a team of sports management students of Sports Management and Research Institute (SMRI). The club’s primary aim and vision is to bring back the glorious days of Thiruvananthapuram in the field of sports and uphold the legacy of the city. The club also made headlines recently, when they started an e-sports team, that too, for the first time by an Indian club.

Their commitment:

“Indian football needs professional leaders with the vision, commitment, and conviction to drive our present football ecosystem to global standards. Travancore Royals are committed to nurturing professional football leaders from among the fan-owners of the club, to lead the club to be a strong global football brand. Our leaders will be accountable and responsible for offering 365 days of true football experience to all fans with handsome returns in terms of sports and business performances. Believe ordinary people can do extraordinary things”

The objective of this partnership is to provide a basis for the establishment of co-operative arrangements between TRFC and CBFC to:

-  Provide an opportunity for players at senior level to play different levels of football in respective countries under the FIFA rules.

-  Enhance the opportunities at both clubs for player, coach and fan engagement activities.

-  Increase opportunities for all levels of player development through support and co-location, through study and play scheme in both countries.

-  Exchange of best practices and projects between the clubs; in sport, in business, marketing and in social engagement.

-  Offer Dual Membership/ Ownership to Fans.

Chris Ewing, Founder and owner of Caledonian Braves explained how the proposal came about:

“We were contacted a year ago by Travancore who were very complimentary about what we are trying to do with our club, the app and fan engagement. They also complimented our vision in trying to grow a global community, similar to their own model in India. We see this as a great opportunity to collaborate and exchange best practise between the clubs. This is also a great opportunity for us to extend our global footprint to new territories and new countries. India is a very interesting and emerging market, one in which could provide exciting opportunities with a partnership like this.”
