Braves U16s come from behind to draw first ever game

11th October 2020

Caledonian Braves' introduction of a youth pathway reached its next milestone today, as the first ever competitive match was played under the club's name in a Scottish Youth FA development league.

The club's brand new Under 16 squad (Caledonian Braves Colts) joined the setup this summer and have been training hard, before progressing into friendly matches, in anticipation of the big kick-off.

Competing in the Lanarkshire Football Development Association's Under 16 league, they hosted Established club Strathaven Dynamo in today's opener. A slow start saw the Braves fall two goals behind in the opening twelve minutes, as the visitors took control of the game.

However, it was a game of two halves. Spurred on by an influential midfield performance by captain Zander Donnelly, Braves came roaring back after the break. Logan Cameron reduced the deficit, before Cameron Queen's goal ten minutes from time secured a share of the spoils.

Next week Braves Colts host Holytown Colts, hoping to build on a very encouraging second half display.
