Gaffer's Update - February 2020

20th March 2020

February was set to be a tough challenge with games scheduled against 4 of the top 5 teams and on the back off BSC, it was a challenge all the lads were looking forward to facing.

The month started off with a tough game against the league leaders Kelty Hearts. The lads approached the game really positively and showed a good performance for an hour of the game however, similar goals to what we have conceded happened again in this match with individual actions letting us down. One major positive was the return of Jack Breslin from over a year out making his first team return.

I was delighted with the response the week after when facing Civil Service at Alliance Park. The lads showed a real determination and took a confidence from the performance against Kelty and showed what they are capable off winning 7- 2. In this game we showed more grit and aggressiveness in defending and our quality showed in the end.

This game lead us into a tough tie against Bonnyrigg Rose. I felt the lads worked so hard and deserved at least a point from this game. Defending well in general play and looking a threat going forward. It was a game where Bonnyrigg's strength and presence especially from set-plays came to the forefront and we didn't deal with those moments as well as I would have liked but took many positives from the game going into another tough game v East Stirlingshire.

This was a game I felt performance wise wasn't as good as out game v Bonnyrigg at times but we were clinical in the final 3rd and defended well in the game. Delighted to see more goals from Neilly and Ross adding to there impressive tally. As a group we were really focussed on trying to get a positive result to set a marker against the top teams in the division as I had felt we had in general under performed against the better sides and this was a game I felt we saw our progression and what we can perform like on our day.

In summary it was a positive month, with good performances in all the 4 games. Scoring 13 and conceding 10 which pretty much reflects our season.
