Moyes signs on as Braves' transfer business picks up pace

1st July 2023

Harvey Moyes becomes Braves’ second signing of the summer, arriving on a one-year deal after leaving fellow Lowland League side East Stirlingshire.

Harvey will add defensive steel and strong experience to Braves’ backline, ahead of what promises to be the most intense Lowland League campaign to date.

On arriving at the Braves, Harvey told us: “It’s exciting to be here, I’ve played in the Lowland League for a few years now... I remember coming here {Alliance Park} last year and did come away from the game with Braves thinking that’s a team you don’t want to play every week, they were very fit and they were at it”

“I got in touch with the manager {Ricky Waddell}, and from speaking to him I understood the club I wanted to be at.

“It was an easy decision for me.”

The 26-year-old centre-half is also able to deputise as a defensive midfielder, providing valuable versatility within the Braves squad.

Harvey is well-travelled, having played across four different countries in the span of his career; including spells in Iceland, as well as the United States.

Joining East Stirlingshire in October 2022 upon completion of his soccer scholarship with NKU Norse (North Kentucky University), Moyes featured for the Shire mainly in the second-half of the season, helping East Stirlingshire secure safety in the Lowland League.

Harvey is also notably the nephew of current West Ham manager, David Moyes.

“I saw Harvey last year,” Ricky Waddell explained.

“I spoke to him {Harvey} a couple of times over the summer; we met up, and I liked what I heard from him.

“He offers good experience, he’s been to the states {USA}, he went through a different pathway.

“He will be a solid player for us.”

Everyone at the club is delighted to welcome Harvey into the Braves family and wish him every success in the Braves shirt this season!
