Captain's First Half Season Update

23rd January 2020

Personally the first half of the season has been very stop start with my injury keeping me out of action for around 4 months.

Now that I’m back playing I am looking forward to the second half of the season and getting back fully fit, helping the lads finish as high as possible in the league and go as far as we can in the cups.

We started the season relatively well and met our targets for the first 10 games whilst playing some attractive football. However, we lacked that real consistency and couldn’t string 3 or 4 wins in a row which would have gave us a platform on which to build. From then until now our form has been a bit up and down and results have shown that.

Throughout the first half of the season we gave away some sloppy goals which we have worked hard on eradicating. On the flip side, we have shown real character to score goals late in games and come back from losing positions which is a huge positive going into the second half of the season.

If we can reduce the number of individual errors which have caused us problems then I don’t see why we can’t better the points total from the first half of the season and finish the season as high as possible. To put things into perspective this squad is brand new with only a few players still at the club from last season.

It was always going to take time for the players to gel and get to know each other’s game. That being said the group of boys have been great and have really bought into the gaffers ideas and ambition of the club.
